DMSS — Drone Mission Support

Multi-UAV command and control for operational ISR missions. An integrated, vendor-agnostic platform, integrable with a wide range of drones through dedicated connectors. It covers the full mission cycle — from pre-flight briefing to live multi-drone telemetry, from AI target detection to MAVLink guidance. Scalable toward civilian and agritech applications.

What is DMSS

The Drone Mission Support System is the Softhesys platform for integrated multi-UAV mission management — able to coordinate drone fleets. It is a multi-drone, vendor-agnostic platform: it integrates with a wide range of aircraft through dedicated connectors per drone type.

The system covers the entire mission cycle in a single cloud platform accessible via VPN on radio controller:

  • Briefing — route planning with vehicle constraint checks, operational overlays on 2D/3D maps, .plan JSON flight plan upload directly to the drone's avionics.
  • Live — real-time telemetry, simultaneous video streaming, AI target detection of generic objects (vehicles, people, buildings, boats, aircraft) from drone imagery.
  • Live Advanced — detection of pre-trained static targets and MAVLink command transmission for automatic trajectory correction toward the target.
  • Debriefing — synchronized 3D replay, media archive with tagging, report generation.

DMSS brings multi-UAV Command and Control to operational ISR missions with a scalable, open platform capable of transforming the drone from mere observer to an active informational engagement system.

Operational modules

Four mission phases, each covered by a dedicated module. Each module activates at its moment in the operational cycle and integrates with the previous ones seamlessly.

01

Briefing

2D/3D waypoint route planning, vehicle constraint checks (battery, range), operational overlays on map, .plan flight plan upload.

02

Live

Fleet telemetry with 2D/3D tracks for each drone. Video streaming and real-time AI detection (vehicles, people, buildings, boats, aircraft).

03

Live Advanced

Detection of pre-trained static targets via dedicated AI models. MAVLink commands (heading, velocity, altitude) for automatic trajectory correction.

04

Debriefing

3D replay synchronized with all sensor data, video/photo archive with metadata tagging, automated reports with coordinates and events.

AI Target Detection examples

Vehicles

Vehicles

Automatic detection of ground vehicles from drone imagery with bounding boxes and confidence scoring. Models optimized for typical operational scenarios.

People

People

Detection of human figures in complex operational scenarios. Robustness across variations of scale, lighting and viewing angle.

Buildings

Buildings

Recognition of fixed structures and pre-trained points of interest. Useful for landmark recognition and verification of known positions.

Boats

Boats

Identification of boats in maritime and river contexts. Robust detection in wave motion and variable visibility conditions.

Application areas

Beyond ISR missions, the open, multi-drone architecture of DMSS enables civilian and industrial scenarios that need aerial data, on-board AI and fleet coordination.

Agritech

Multispectral crop analysis: health status, water stress, vigor maps and targeted management of irrigation and treatments.

Building management

Inspection of roofs, facades and systems, thermographic surveys and structural condition monitoring for facility management.

Forest monitoring

Surveillance of woodland areas, early detection of fires and anomalies, deforestation control and vegetation health.

Critical infrastructure

Inspection of power lines, pipelines, bridges and industrial plants, with automatic defect and anomaly detection.

Security & surveillance

Perimeter control of sensitive sites and large areas, with AI tracking and identification of people and vehicles.

Emergency & rescue

Support for civil protection and search & rescue: rapid reconnaissance of affected areas and location of people and targets.

Compatibility and connectors

Every DMSS connector relies on open standards. A drone is integrable when its platform exposes these capabilities:

MAVLink offboard control

Ability to receive kinematic setpoints (velocity, yaw, altitude) via MAVLink for precise guidance controllable from DMSS. A closed autopilot is not enough: an open, integrable system like PX4 or Auterion is required.

Geo-referenced imagery

Real-time access and sharing of high-resolution imagery with full metadata (GPS, attitude). Necessary for AI detection and trajectory correction computation.

Telemetry & open APIs

Open API interface for real-time telemetry and bidirectional communication. The drone platform must be programmable, observable and controllable in real-time.

Safety & fail-safe

Safety system and integrated fail-safe procedures for reliable operations in any condition. Safety is a non-optional prerequisite for any trajectory automation.

Simulation environment

Availability of a simulation environment for feature validation and testing before real flight. Drastically reduces development time and risk.

Integration and reliability

DMSS is designed as an open platform: a layer of dedicated connectors per drone type allows aircraft from different manufacturers to be integrated without touching the system core. On every integrated platform DMSS ensures a stable, reliable multi-drone operational environment.

01

Telemetry integration

Real-time acquisition and visualization of essential flight data.

02

Real-time video stream

Immediate vision of the operational environment for operators.

03

Verified stability

Key integrations validated to ensure operational continuity.

04

Field operation

Validation in real-world mission conditions.

Integration approach

Integrating complex systems requires a rigorous engineering approach. The pillars DMSS is built on:

Interoperability

Seamless integration between platforms.

Stream quality

Stability of data and video streams.

Real verification

Tests in real operational conditions.

Continuous improvement

Progressive technical iterations.

The Live Advanced features combine AI detection and MAVLink guidance in an integrated operational flow, taking the drone from mere observer to an active informational engagement system.
